BUD IS LIVE

Bud the Bunny is now available for purchase on lulu.com.

Since this book did not fit the requirements for lulu's distributions agreements, the only places one can find Bud is on the Bud the Bunny ordering page online, or at any event Fan Done attends. Those that purchase Buds in person or who even wander by the Fan Done table in the dealer's room of such a convention can receive free Bud the Bunny bookmarks.

Without a distribution agreement, Bud will not be found in physical stores or at online book (and everything else) sellers such as Amazon.com.

Therefore, if you purchase a Bud, please show him to someone else. Please point people to the Bud the Bunny ordering webpage. Bud will only spread like a bunny by word of mouth. Since my voice does not carry as far as I and Bud would like, we ask for your assistance in this endeavor.

Thank you.

BUD THE BUNNY BOOKMARK

Given the 2 week delay in the original timeline, I will not have any actual books of Bud availabe for the Fan Done table at the Dallas Comic Con this weekend. Therefore I have purchased 1000 Bud the Bunny bookmarks as free give-aways.

Hopefully Bud's endearing nature will compel people to pick up a bookmark and take it home to their computers, where they can go to the URL noted on said bookmark and click through to purchase a Bud the Bunny picture book of their very own.

SUBMISSION - THE FIRST LINE

I have submitted a short story to The First Line.

It is the first submission I have made to a paying publication this year, and is the beginning of a trend I shall endeavor to follow through the twilight of 2006 and throughout the days of 2007.

The goal is one submission a month, be it to contest or publication. These submissions are in addition to all of the other writing projects I create for myself on random whims and half-remembered dreams. Nonetheless, I will strive to collect more money than rejection slips by submitting the best writings I can. May they all be contending puppies.

BUD HAS SHIPPED

Reading my email this evening was more of a joy than usual as it contained a communication from lulu.com that my proof copy of Bud the Bunny has shipped. Given the date, I will let Saturday go by without any expectation of arrival. I shall begin my anticipation in earnest on Monday.

BUD UPLOADED

All files have been successfully uploaded.

The selling web page has been created, although it is not currently publicly accessible.

A proof copy of Bud the Bunny has been ordered. As anxious as I am to hold Bud in my hands, there is still the budget to consider, and he will have to make his way to me via standard shipping rates. His estimated time of arrival is early next week, although I do plan to camp the mailbox on Saturday, just in case.

THE LAST 20%

1. After consultation with others whose opinions I trust, I have created a different cover for Bud the Bunny. It appeals more to children, and lets everyone see just what Bud looks like right away.

2. All files needed to be slightly re-sized to account for a full bleed (color to the very edges of the paper. This took more time than I expected, but such is the way of electronic creations.

3. As Murphy would have it, it is only after I upload a file that I notice something that must be changed.

4. The Pareto principle, with regard to resource optimization, is alive and well in this project.

BUD UPDATE

I have within my grasp final, colored electronic files of my first children's picture book, Bud the Bunny. Once I have made some tiny formatting adjustments, Bud the Bunny will be uploaded to lulu.com.

I will keep the book private until I can review a printed copy and assure myself that it is ready for public adoration.

Then I shall update this blog with the ordering URL, and update the Lloyd-Quinn Books website proper with extra Bud the Bunny tidbits such as a picture of the original bud, early design and coloring concepts, and Bud's origin story.

BUD UPDATE

I have received and reviewed copy and illustration layouts for all pages.

I have received and reviewed two color pages to approve overall color scheme.

I have a new deadline of October 10th, so that printed copies may be available at the Dallas Comic Con at the Fan Done dealer's table.

I am several steps closer to accomplishing my first self-published book.
