SUBMISSION - CONTEST

I have just sent an entry in to my first writing contest. It was finished in good time, for this contest has a tight deadline. It passed the thad test, and received the highest compliment yet of reviewed writings.

I sleep, perchance to win. Or at least get a door prize.

BUY LAST UNICORN DVD FROM CONLAN PRESS

Today's entry will take a slight detour into the word-of-mouth arena.

If you are a fan of Peter Beagle, you know that he has not received the money he is due for the film adaptation of his story, The Last Unicorn. While negotiations seem to still be under way, a step in addressing this grievous wrong has been made by Lionsgate Entertainment: if you purchase The Last Unicorn on DVD from Conlan Press, Peter will receive some of the money. If you purchased it through any other venue (Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, etc.), Peter will not.

I hope that makes your purchasing decision obvious.

Remember, Christmas is only 11 months away. And someone you know has a birthday before then. And really, not enough gifts are exchanged on Groundhog's Day, and you should do your part to give that holiday the reverence it deserves by giving the gift of a Last Unicorn DVD bought through Conlan Press.

AN ENDING

As the smell of freshly baked short story fills the air, I let you know that the middle appeared as promised, and the ending came out with a faint touch of crispness. I hope to have the two people whose opinions matter the most to me take a sample this week.

In the mean time, I should really write the short story my unconscious slipped under the door to me the other day while driving. It is fully formed, complete with an unsuspected villain and cybernetic eyes. What more could anyone truly ask for?

A BEGINNING

Started a new short story today. I've had the first line for several weeks, but was unable to advance any further. Today, after sitting down before my keyboard and letting the fingers type of their own accord, I have accomplished a significant beginning.

The ending is a vague doughy mass that needs kneading. The middle is non-existent, but that seems to be a common occurrence with my writings so far. I shall endeavor to pound the ending into shape and conjure a middle before the end of the week.
