PUBLISHED - THE FIRST LINE SPRING 2007

I am proud to announce my first published short story is now available in the Spring 2007 (Vol 9, Issue 1) edition of The First Line. 10 stories for $3.00 (plus S&H), all starting with the same first line:

"In Pigwell, time is not measured by days or weeks but by the number of eighteen wheelers that drive past my house."

Apparently I am unable to currently write anything without a genre (fantasy/science fiction/horror) element, so please considered that my Persian flaw as you read "An Angry Winter", found on page 27.

The check has been scanned for posterity and cashed for dinner.

Children’s Authors’ Bootcamp

This weekend was dedicated to learning from the professionals the market and categories of children's literture, as well as covering the basics of the writing craft: POV, characters, plot, etc.

I feel very spoiled - this was a wonderful workshop taught by people who teach what they know, and have known for several years. The booklist to read before bootcamp included a selection from each of the different age categories, and were used in the course as practical examples of the writing basics being covered.

I highly recommend this class - well worth the time and money for begining writers and those interested in children's picture books, chapter books, middle grade books, and young adult fiction.
