OFF TO ANOTHER VENUE

Having met some wonderful people who I would like to keep in touch with at the Nebulas, I have targeted LiveJournal for my somewhat daily ramblings.

Short writing activity update:
* ACDT first draft feedback received from multiple sources, including a significant one. Revising and writing a synopsis.

* First chapters of 07338 submitted to the Project A-Kon writing workshop. Revising and working on outline.

* First chapter of ToSR completed. Outline in development.

* One short story out for consideration.

* First incarnation of story that popped into mind while driving to work and refused to let go typed into computer and possible outline forming.

CONDFW

[written in retro and therefore slightly devoid of the vivid detail and cunning exposition you should expect were I to blog in time measured by humans instead of continental drift]

I attended this literary science fiction convention as a guest this year. As it was within 10 minutes of the house, I did not use the hotel room facitilities. Steven K. Z. Brust is always a treat to listen to, both on panel and off. During the shortest opening ceremonies I have ever attended at a con, he thanked everyone for their Texas hospitality, which he only truly comprehended after the end of the last ConDFW he attended when he bought his own drink at the bar ... at over $20/shot.

Attended several panels of useful and entertaining information. Spent money in the dealer's room. Shared dinner with other authors and writers. Received a high-five over my first short story sale. Witnessed my first Yard Dog Road Show. Am still sane, I think.

No, wait, I'm still a writer - scratch that last sentence.

Other than observing the lawn furniture being hastily stowed away by the hotel staff and a slightly red tinge to the sky, I was mostly unaware of the great dust bowl that blew through the area.

Sunday, however, a migraine appeared with a vengeance and I took myself home to a dark room after morning panels.

Looking forward to next year!
